CHRISTMAS SAYINGS

SOME NEW CHRISTMAS SAYINGS

Well, it has been a while since my last post......

But I have been busy with some new designs and with my family.

Halloween has come and gone.  For some of us, Thanksgiving is next and before we know it, CHRISTMAS.  Wow where did this year go?  For me, it has gone by far to quickly.....

When I look back though, I have to say, that I achieved a lot.  I opened up a store on ETSY.  Did lots of digitizing (which as you know I LOVE).  Have had good times with friends and family and made lots of new friends through my teaching of machine embroidery.

The other day I had a lady ask me how to do machine embroidery applique.  There are so many ladies out there that are new to machine embroidery and some that have had their machines for a while, but dont know how to use their machines to their full potential.

So I thought that this would be the perfect place to put up some instructions with photos - (hope you all like).

Please Note That These Instructions Are For My Digitized Designs For Applique :-

1.  Hoop the fabric/item that needs to be appliqued.
The first colour will be an outline stitch.  This is to show you the size of the fabric that you will need to cut -    PS:  Remember your piece of fabric will always need to be bigger on all sides.  Remove your hoop - PLEASE DO  NOT UNHOOP.  Using your spray glue, spray a little over the area of the outline and smooth down your piece of fabric over this.

2.  The second colour will be the same outline - this will stitch your fabric down.  Once this has been done, remove your hoop from the machine - PLEASE DO NOT UNHOOP.  Using your applique scissors, cut away the excess fabric around the outline stitch, being careful not to cut the stitching.

3.  Replace the hoop back onto the machine.  Now there could be more applique or there could be stitching only.  The above steps are done each time an applique needs to be done.

I hope that the above makes sense.

If anyone has any questions regarding Machine Applique, please do not hesitate to ask them here.  It would be great to get some feedback from you all.

I also wanted to let you know that I have just released three new Christmas Sayings, that would be perfect stitched out on either cushion covers, fronts of placemats, t-shirts or even that little Santa's Sack for the kids.

These are available in my Etsy Shop :-

Over the past two weeks, I have been quite busy with a few christmas sayings.  They are all in my Etsy Shop - I hope you will visit and perhaps LIKE, TWEET and SHARE with all your friends that are also into Machine Embroidery.

Hope you all have a fantastic week stitching and embroidering.

BIRDS N FLOWERS
My family and I have reached a milestone ......

Our oldest daughter Nicole finishes school on Thursday 20th October 2011.  She still has to write her finals, but only goes in on the days that she writes.
She of course has mixed feelings.....  excited about the future on one hand and nervous on the other.  I have these same feelings.

The only thing I can, as a mother do, is be there to support and love her.  It seems like it was just the other day that she started Grade 1 and now she is finishing.....

This morning she said "This is my last Monday of school..." - so I guess until Thursday, I will hear "This is my last ....."  - hehehe - really dont mind at all.
Varsity for her starts in February next year.  I guess it is just another format of school...

Anyway, I have digitized and uploaded a new set "Birds n Flowers.  This set fits the 4x4 (100x100) hoop and consists of 12 really cute designs - SEE BELOW

These designs would be great for a little girls quilt, or maybe you could come up with some great ideas.

These are available at the moment in my Etsy Store :-

I hope you will pop on over and visit.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and hope to see your comments.

OCTOBER IS BREAST AWARENESS MONTH

I cannot believe that we are already in October of this year.  It seems like just the other day we were starting the new year and here we are, almost at the end again.  Time certainly seems to fly when you are having fun - lol.

My fun of course, is digitizing machine embroidery designs and seeing the fun people have with using my designs.  I love seeing what my customers come up with - some of you are sew very talented.  The feedback I get is really heartwarming too.  Thankyou to all of you that support me.  I really do appreciate each and every one of you.

We all have to think PINK this month.  I have just uploaded three new designs into my Etsy Store for this very important issue.

So for all of you ladies out there over "that" certain age, please dont forget to get them checked.

The link for my Etsy Shop is :-http://www.etsy.com/shop/karencreed

These designs fit the 5x7 hoop (180x130) - if you need them to be smaller or bigger, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am also working on the cutest set at the moment that will fit the 4x4 (100x100) hoops.  There are 12 designs in this set, so lots of stitching out for me to do.  Will post as soon as they are done.

You all have a wonderful week.  Hope you get plenty of time to stitch and have fun.

SOME NEW DESIGNS

Hello Everyone,

Well, my daughters Grade 12 Trials are finally over - thank goodness.  She found them quite difficult, but we already have some results back and they are much better than anticipated - also thank goodness.  Well, we now have a month off before she starts writing finals - so she can have a few days off and then back to the studying.

I have also been quite the busy bee - I have been doing a bit of digitizing and this is what I have come up with - these are all available in my ETSY store and also on SEWNSEW

BACK TO SCHOOL SAYINGS

All the above designs fit the 5x7 hoop (180x130 or bigger).  Perfect for t-shirts, book bags, etc.

HALLOWEEN SINGLES

The above designs also fit the 5x7 hoop (180x130 or bigger) and these are just gorgeous for just about any halloween project.

TWILIGHT SAYINGS

These designs fit the 5x7 hoop (180x130 or bigger) and if you require these designs to fit the 235x145 hoop, they are also available.

My youngest daughter Tayla who is almost 14 years went wild when she saw these.  I believe the next movie is due out soon, so she has asked if I could please stitch these out on some t-shirts for her and her friends for when the movie comes out here in South Africa.

For the designs that have the word "Sparkle", I used a metallic silver thread.  It really does look quite effective in real life.  Just remember to use a metallic needle when stitching with metallic thread.  It definitely helps to stitch out smoothly.

I hope you have had fun browsing my new designs.  If you would like to purchase any of these designs, please visit my Etsy Shop at  http://www.etsy.com/shop/karencreed or you could visit http://www.sewnsew.co.za.

Hope to hear from some of you soon.  It would be great if you could leave some comments and/or join my blog.

BUTTERFLY APPLIQUE 5X7 DESIGNS

Hi Everyone,

We are halfway through this week already.  It has gone by so quickly.

Well, my daughter is halfway through her trial exams (Grade 12) and so far, so good.  It has been a bit stressful, but nothing we cannot manage.  I have made sure that all the snacks and drinks are available at all times and that she is taking her vitamins, etc.  These girls can certainly snack - lol.  We have even managed to walk on the mornings that she doesn't write - just to walk off those "snacks" and also to clear the mind and get some fresh air.

I even managed to get some more designs out - these are quite gorgeous.

BUTTERFLY APPLIQUE DESIGNS - 5x7

Here are some pics of the designs - there are 10 and I have uploaded then separately into my Etsy Store - so hope you will pop in and visit my store.

If any of you are wanting them in the 4x4 size, please let me know - I am still busy test stitching the 4x4 sizes.

I hope you enjoy and look forward to hearing from some of you soon.  I have started on some new designs too, so hopefully will be able to get them done before the end of the week.

Till next time, ladies and gents, happy stitching.
